Hornworms are a really good treat, but bad for a staple. They re kind of fatty and the frogs do tend to like them because they are an aggressive caterpilar. When grabbed by tongs they thrash around which usually gets the frog's attension. They are also somewhat brightly colored being a blue/green or teal color with whittish markings downtheir sides. Frogs usually get excited over them, but not all frogs will take them.
These also get very large. When the caterpilar is mature enough to pupate it is about 4 inches long and maybe 3/4 of an inch wide. A very large meal. They are safe feeders, but grow rapidly. Reaching their 4 inch length in about 2 weeks or less. They are also kind of expensive.
