Please help me identify this toad. My dog may have licked it and is now in intensive care at the vet. The vet is insisting that his problems have nothing to do with possible toad poisoning but the vet cant tell me what type of toad it is. We are in an area where the colorado river toad is prevelant. I have called several vets, reptile stores, the local university, an no one is sure. Please help if you can.
Thanks
it appears to be a "pelobatidae"... google it, and tell me if u agree
^^I would have to agree^^
I found an expert at the desert museum and it is a couch's spadefoot toad. Thanks for trying to help.
Agree it's a Couch's Spadefoot; can tell by the vertical pupils. It's not a toad by the way. It can secrete a substance that causes allergic reactions in some humans and apparently; also on your dog. Hope the dog recovers soon and do not handle the frog unless wearing gloves. Good luck!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Cute little guy. I'll say that much.
Spade fiot
Omg i was going to reply couchs spadefoot then i saw u figured it out![]()
