Making wood safe!!!!

I have a method for making wood safe, I am just wondering if the bleach will make this wood safe and kill this junk off.

I have a question about this too. We have several manzanita trees in the yard and just cut a dead piece off of one. My husband is currently sanding it smooth, then we plan to boil it for a while. How long should we boil it, and is this a good way to make it safe for the white's tree frogs? Thanks!

I personally bake my dry dead wood pieces in the oven after I scrub the he!! out of them.

introducing bleach into a porous item like wood would be a very bad idea. you may never get it all out and it may leech out as the wood gets wet.
