Ok, hope they get better, can you write with an outcome? I'm curious about how they got them. Were they a recent purchase?

I'm glad you've desided to do what was advised to you. Everyone here aside from first time froggers know what they're talking about and are only providing the necessary information to help your frog recover.

Questioning the advice given or ignoring it completely is counter-productive and wastes valuable time.

Oh, I wasn't the one who had a frog with worms. I hope the person with this situation gets their frog treated. My frogs don't have them, thankfully.

    Hi,
    I'm hoping all is well.
How did you make out of at the vet?

I still don't have access to a vet although I have tried yet again; exotic pet vets are few & far between. Part of the reason I have queried this forum is due to this, hopefully temporary, lack of access. Thank you for the recommendation of night crawlers as a more nutritious food...I picked some up. As for the probiotics, I actually had taken one frog to an exotic pet vet (long story as to how I actually was able to find one) for a prolapse. Astounding that she was able to put all of the outsides inside. That said, I consulted with a holistic exotic pet vet who confirmed that the probiotics, cat's claw, & aloe vera (a solution that was a product of research from scientists in Australia, etc.) would be a good solution. And it worked! One exotic pet vet said frogs will always have a parasite load. It's a matter of keeping it in balance. I appreciate the concern and the recommendations and still have them as a possibility. I try to use chemical remedies as a last resort as, the way I figure it, some other frogs in the wild have to be at the point of manufacture for those chemicals and at the tail end of the disposal...I'm sure those frogs don't fair as well as the ones receiving treatment in vivariums. But, please note, I do practice integrative medicine and have ruled none of the solutions out and I thank all but the scolding tone of one poster for all of the suggestions.

Thanks for writing but apparently whatever you wrote before got mixed responses. I just hope your frog is ok and it got the right treatment. Can you reassure us your frog is ok with your remedy that worked so fast? Are you going to make any changes in your care?

    Hi Froggirl13,
I have read lots of material on the cat's claw for boosting their immunity?
I was tempted to use this at one time for a black eyed tree frog that would not eat.
Dr Frye did 3 fecals for this frog of mine. The 1st 2 were negative. The 3rd was positive. The positive fecal was in week four of 6 ... of the frog not eating, and at that point needed force feeding, Metronidazole, and panacur. He was very sick, I almost lost him. It's such a spiral ( the stress and the opportunistic unset of an illness or inability to fight a parasite they may be harboring).

    Hope all goes well

Thanks for the update, from you both. The earthworms are tricky to feed if they are big, even I had trouble with them. Your approaches to medicine were successful, and if my frog became ill, I would start contacting vets. I do not know where to purchase what you both wrote about. Thankfully, my frogs have not had worms. Another reason I refrain from giving them guppies. I still wonder how they digest crickets! Last night I wasted a number of wax worms because frogs were not near a big rock but floating plants, where I placed some worms. Only 2 ate, other 2 weren't interested. Today I'll make my weekly trip for small crickets. I have to check around for small earthworms (if there are any that are small) and put wax worms back in fridge. But, glad you wrote, its always good to learn from experienced owners.

If I don't write for a while, its because I just adopted a young stray cat from my yard who was found crying out loudly, several nights in the cold. I have been feeding her and managed to get her in the house (long story). She is the sweetest cat I have come across yet! She gets along with my dog and I will get her to the vet when someone helps me get her in a cat carrier. She looks great, just thin. The shelters are full and there is no reason why I can't keep her. Human allergies can now be treated by med put in cat's water, so family can't interfere with me keeping her. I am allergic to cats but after letting her sleep on my bed last night I am not sneezing, wheezing, or itching. Hopefully my allergy is not going to return! But, that's why stores sell Claritin, right? So, I am happy, the cat came on my birthday, and its about time something good happened in my life. I am thrilled to have her. I can update later, too.
