 Survives bites from big spiders?
 Survives bites from big spiders?
Is this normal for a Pacman? Resisting bites and poison like that?

No. It's not normal for any animal on earth.

It's not uncommon for reptiles and amphibians to have resistance to venom and poison from species that coexist with them in the wild (ex; there's a population of garters in the northwest that are the only animals known to be unaffected by fire newts) but I imagine most pacs would die after being bitten by a tarantula like that.

Dont ever post something like that here again. That is animal cruelty and is not appreciated. Whom ever made that video doesnt deserve to have these wonderful creatures and deserves the same fate. I will not warn anyone a second time.
This is not normal and is not in anyway informative. This person made this video to amuse themselves and for no other reason except that.
Please use better judgement before posting such videos please.
Thank you.

That's just messed up, got a big thumbs down from me. I'm sure these frogs come across big invertebrates like this in the wild and perhaps they do have a tolerance to them, but I have no idea. Maybe that spiders venom isn't very strong either.

Re: Survives bites from big spiders?
To add to the venom resistance question. It wasn't resisting. The spider was having trouble piercing the tough hide of the frog. Pacman Frogs have very tough skin on their faces and back. Each of the hard bumbs that texture the skin are very tough. It is even difficult to give them an injection with a Hypodermic Needle. In this case is the same difficulty for the spider as it would be to give them a shot.
This video nontheless sickens me and i immediately flagged it after watching it. There would be no reason to do such a hateful act upon these creatures especially not for one's amusement.

Tarantula venom is very weak compared to many spiders. I don't consider any animal being bit by a tarantula "normal" tho.

Re: Survives bites from big spiders?
You know I was going to say that it doesn't look like the spider was even penetrating the frog, but I couldn't be sure. The first time it bites it, it does look like it left a little mark so I couldn't tell. I don't know what would possess someone to do this.. other than trying to be cool.

Re: Survives bites from big spiders?
That was meant as not being normal for a small animal to resist the venom, but they eat venomous insects and spiders in the wild with no ill effects accept venomous toads, frogs, and newts which can kill them if eaten.
EDIT; Of course most Tarantula venom is weak, but it is effective against smaller animals such as frogs.

To be honest I never even watched the video so what I'm saying probably doesn't make sense.

I removed the video so that it doesnt recieve anymore hits from here.
Zlitni I know you didn't mean to post the video for any reason other than curiosity so don't feel like you did something wrong.

The worst thing was that most of the comments weren't even that negative. That always confuses me; you see a video of someone feeding a live mouse to a skittish snake species that probably wouldn't take pre-killed, and there are dozens of comments about how cruel and sociopathic the owner is. But then there's something like this that doesn't benefit either animal involved and is just cruel, and no one seems that offended (not on youtube anyway).

Dude.. I was very close to posting a very R rated comment for that guy, but I refrained and just reported it for animal abuse. He probably posted the vid to get negative comments anyway.
