So, I figured I'd swear off frogs for a bit. The forum, looking at pictures, neglecting the tank my last frog passed away in...
That changed yesterday. I'd been on vacation all week, first at a cabin and then at my Grandma's house.
We were getting all of stuff packed up when I heard my step dad yelling for me.
"Becky! Get out here!...Frog!"
What I found was the cutest little bright green treefrog on my Grammy's porch. So green, it looked fake. We ( my step dad and I) put her in a coffee can and said if she made it back to my house, I'd keep her, since I still have my tank and whatnot.
She survived.
I think she's a cope's or something. She's got the mottled look my last frog had, but she's bright green instead of gray and her eyes are MUCH smaller. She seems healthy, no red leg, bright eyes, quite entergetic ( she jumped on my face!), though perhaps a little freaked about being put in a coffee can for a few hours.

I have a frog. She's fat and green. Her name is Gertrude, because she is fat and green.
Yeah, that was his name. Thanks. He was fun while he lasted. Hopefully this one lasts as long.
While it's probably not the best way to get a pet...my last 2 wild-caughts were magnificent. The pet stores around here only sell depressed looking white's tree frogs and angry firebellies. :|
If there were grays to bought nearby (or perhaps a decent area to catch gray tadpoles and raise those in captivity) I'd be game for buying them. Though, it seems people have lots of issues with store bought frogs.

You should look and see if they have any reptile expo's around you.. you might be able to find a healthy tree frog there.
I got my gray treefrog as a tadpole from a ditch filled with tadpoles. It's probably a little late in the year to find any, but next summer you could try just driving out in the country and looking for pools and ditches near wooded areas. They're pretty common throughout most of their range.
All six of my grey trees are wild caught, and all six are awesome :P Enjoy your new buddy!
