Just wondering what a few good first frogs will be? I have already seen bullfrogs and like them, but I am not decided yet. I don't know why, but I don't like White's Tree Frog! Is there any good suppliers around Nottingham as well? Thanks![]()
Unfortunately I can't help you out with acquisition, but I can give you some suggestions as to what to purchase for your first frog! My first frog/toad pair was an American Green Tree Frog (Hyla Cinerea) and a Christmas Toad (Bufo Espinuloso), and both were great! White's Tree Frogs are very hardy as well and make excellent first pets (from what I've read). If you prefer terrestrial frogs then Bullfrogs and Leopard Frogs are great as well. The best suggestion I can give you is to research what is best for you, then build a terrarium setup that fits it. Good luck and have fun!
if i remember correctly everyone says white tree frogs are great for beginner frog owners. i started with a Red-Eyed Leaf Frog and she's doing great!!!
I started with a African bull frog and aside from being bitten today he's awesome lol

lol n u warned me about being bit. got to watch ur fingasbull frogs r fun from wat i hear, and easy, also pacmans to. at least from what i've read..i hvnt had one yet so I dont know..maybe someone who owns one can vowture on that. lol
I'm not sure PacMans would be a beginner frog. My first pacman, who I still have and got from a friend didn't eat for me for the first week. I figured out he would not eat unless I held him in my hand. I had to do that for awhile and eventually he grew out of it, luckily.
I would really recommend a Waxy Tree Frog as a good beginner frog. They prefer dry and hot and little humidity. In fact, if you spray them at all they get a higher chance of getting a bacterial infection. Just provide a water bowl of some sort and when they need moisture they will soak themselves. I think, honestly, it would be really hard to kill this species unless you didn't feed it or provide a water source.
I would also recommend a Giant African Pyxie. They are really hardy and not picky about eating at all.
