The hovering thing. Ya. I need to stop that. >>

The baths are always warm. I try to make sure its just a little warm to the touch for me because I dont want it to be too hot for him. I figure if its just over my own body temperature it should be ok right?

My crickets are itty bitty. If you know, there the 10 cent ones from petsmart (11 cents for big ones). I'll see if we carry red wigglers at work but probably not. If not I'll stop by walmart tomorrow (or maybe today before work if I can) and see if they carry them. If not what about cutting parts off of regular earth worms? I know walmart has those in the fishing area. I'll set up another bath and disable the crickets and see if that works. He did seem to lunge at one on the tongs yesterday when I put him in the pedialte bath in his own tank but when he missed he just refused to try again.

Hes tucked into a corner of the room where 3 sides are blocked by other items. Is this ok or should I maybe put some dark colored construction paper around the tank instead?

I know I ask a lot its just if he is sick I only have one day left on my 14 day guarantee. I would never just up and get rid of him but if I take him back to work he'll be taken care of by Lori who is a total expert (she has, like, 3 pacs of her own) and they pay for his care. If I have to pay for his care it could cost upwards of 200-300$ for a visit because there is only one frog specialist in the area and they, apparently, think very highly of themselves. Once hes better I get to buy him back and since its at work I get to visit him daily if I wish (I did while they were taking care of his infection).

    This morning when I checked him he was out and about like a normal frog but it didn't look like he'd eaten any of the crickets I left in his tank. Maybe hes fine he just dosn't like crickets? I am NOT a fan of meal/supper worms but if the red wigglers/earth worms dont peek his interest I guess I can try them.... *shudder and gag* Ya. I know. I dont mind the crickets and actually enjoy watching them eat those so I shouldnt have a problem with the worms but, really, there just big maggots! D;

You can cut off appropriate sized pieces of regular earthworms too. I would only feed him one to 2 mealworms a week no more. Waxworms can be used as well, but they are very fattening so maybe 2 or 3 of those per week.

The water temp should be 80 degrees or a little less for his bath.

It would be best to actually place a background on the sides of the tank rather than just placing it in a corner.

    Keep me posted.

Welp got some red wigglers tonight and just tried to get Baby to eat them and still no go. Im having a hard time sizing them, though. I dig threw and try to find very small ones (most are large but quite a few are pretty small) but then they stretch out so I dont know if Baby thinks there too big or something and wont eat it. Should I take a larger one and cut it? I saw another post about how that would help him smell it and be a bit more enticed then just the wiggling mass around his mouth.

Also, we keep these guys in the fridge at work but do they have to be refrigerated? Or would a moderately cool dark place be ok? I forgot to ask before everyone left and all I can find online is about composting. And my parents are a bit "yich" at the idea of having the worms in the fridge..... X3

Also, Baby's been very active. Hes out and about hopping around his tank, using his water dish to soak, and going in and out of the half log. This is normal for my tree girls but I dont know if its normal for a pac (I thought they were fairly lazy little things). If its normal behavior should I even be worried that hes not eating?

I wish I could put up the pics I have of him tonight but at the moment I cant connect the camera to the computer. But I've got pics of several days ago and compared them to now and it seems like his color has gotten a LOT darker. Before it was a bright leafy green and now its a deep blackish green with a lighter line down the middle of his back where I'd assume his spine is and at his hips.

You can cut up the larger red wigglers as well. Try and keep his environment consistant. It is normal for younger ones and sometimes older ones to be up and about their tank. Most of the time they are lazy, but they will roam occationally. You can just leave the crickets that you removed the hind legs from in and just let him hunt them. Don't forget to dust. They change color as they age/due to food they eat/mood/and with the substrate to blend in.

    I have bad news.

I talked with Lori and she looked Baby over and we both agreed that he had lost over half his body weight since he'd been there for his eye infection. It hurt a lot (and I mean A LOT) but I made the decision that I would rather give him up then have him die from malnutrition. She said that only time will tell if he will get better and start eating or if he just had a bad bug (possibly a bit of the infection got into his system? not really sure). I decided that he needed to be with someone much more experienced then I and that is totally Lori.

I had the option of exchanging him for a different pac but 1) I just dont know if I could at the moment. I bonded with baby yaknow? Just cant replace him like that. And 2) even though everyone says there was probably nothing I could have done to keep this from happening I feel it was my inexperience that caused this and I feel I need to be a more experienced frog owner before I try just a stress prone breed of frog.

I decided to give a home to a Whites tree frog we've had for several weeks now. Tree frogs I know. Tree frogs I have experience with.

I wont give up on pacs. It may be several months or a year but I will get another pac eventually. I may look into buying an older pac that is a little hardier then the tiny babies we sell at petsmart. Thank you so much Grif. You have tried so hard to help me but it just seems that Baby was not destined to be happy with me. I've learned a lot from this experience and it has expanded my love for frogs from just the arboreal into the terrestrial and inadvertently into the aquatic too. I fear my room will start to look like the aquatics/reptile habs at work soon. X3

Thank you again and please pray that Baby gets better and someone with more experience comes along and gives him a better home then I could. I know I will pray. He deserves it.

I'm sorry, but maybe it is for the best. His battle with that infection may have caused him to become ill. You tried really hard and did the best you could. He couldn't ask for more than that. Hopefully he will recover from this and be well. An experianced keepermight just give Baby a better chance. He will be in my thaughts and prayers.

You are welcome for the help I. Provided.
