I called vet because I recognized it right away. He said push it back in.... it's not brain surgery. Lovely. Good thoughts for my Lil Guy and me! I'm sure to be traumatized.

I'm sorry... T_T I hope he's okay...I lost one frog already and the year has just started, I hope no one has to go through that ever. I think Jr would take my finger off...I hope I never have to see that in person and same for all other froggy owners. Sending good energy to Pocket.

I've got most of it in. Pocket Is now pouting/soaking in a sugar water bath. Swelling is going down. I removed All substrate and put down paper towels. The vet was such a jerk to me. I don't really like him but he's the only herp vet around. He said all he'd do was push it in and told me to do that on my own. I asked if I should bring him in tomorrow and he said no. Sighhh... any other ideas?

Other than find a new vet and maybe report the guy to the head of the office, I say just give him some time to breath and calm down. It has to be stressful having someone poke you in the gut and having his gut hanging out doesn't help. Any ideas why he did it? Did he eat a rock or something? Keep him warm and moist. I wouldn't be able to sleep, but if you can take shifts with someone, I'd do that.

There aren't any other vets around me that will take care of my frog. I've looked because of other illnesses with other frogs. This Guy is useless with zero personality or bedside manner. I really don't want to take my frog There or give him my money.... but, I will if this doesn't get better. I'm not going to be able to sleep. I live alone. To top it off, I'm sick as a dog with a lung infection and pretty much feel like dog ****. The sickness has kind of settled in my eyes and its made It hard to focus on the issue on the frog. I hope my antibiotics kick in and I feel better tomorrow so I can just deal with Pocket. We're also supposed to get completely dumped on with snow this weekend and I need to prepare for this.... I'm leaving him in the water and I Have him secluded and dark. I know he's stressed and I feel so bad.

I'm sorry. We don't have any vets that'll care for exotics. I was real sick when my dog had to go to emergency, and it wasn't easy. I hope your guy gets better and you too. mine is acting strange right now. He won't burrow and has taken refuge in his water dish after he had runny stool over half his tank. He's soaking up the water faster than I can refill it.

Oh no... I hope yours feelsbetter. Pocket went to his eater dish for over 2 weeks. He was pretty sick and near death. Pocket was having a fit this afternoon. I guess that's when it happened? I saw him flopping around his cage. I told him to calm down and made him burrow. He finally calmed until it was feeding time and I saw what happened. ;( I hope he makes it.

Pocket is at the vet. They had to put him under. The vet was a little nicer to me. I started crying When I was leaving and he said they'd take good care of him. Still waiting on word on him. I ended up going grocery shopping while he was getting his procedure done.

I know how hard it is to see them sick and you feel helpless. Its a terrible feeling to know that you can do nothing else for them. You do the best you can and hope for the best, but always prepare for the worst. Really there is nothing that can prepare you for something like this. I hope he recovers.

I have a story that relates, but isn't of the same affliction. When Grif was sick and stopped eating I tried everything, after almost 10 days of her not eating she began to lose weight. I had to quarentine her and take her to the vet. I was given Flagyl and Panacur just incase she had an infection or worms. All stool samples came up negative. Yet she was still sick and not eating. My fiance and I as well as the vet were stumped. So he suggested to force feed her. Which I did for 2 months straight. The Vet also gave us a whole food vitamin supplement and a can of canned dog/cat food for malnurished animals to force feed her by seringe. The next appointment she had at the vet when nothing changed we desided to have her treated for a tape worm since their pressence isn't always traceable in stool samples. Now she was already weak and we were their for 2 hours within A/C which is also bad for frogs.

Now tape worm treatments mind you are injections. They take a needle and stick the frog behind the head away from any vital organs, but its still horrifying to see. Grif had a bad reaction to the injection and began to go into shock. I thought she died. We had the vet check on her again before we left and at this pointMy fianceand I were freaked out and devastated. He poured some water on her and she began to move a little. They offered to keep her over night, but I refused and said id take her home. I immediately placdd her I'm warm water and she came out of shock. I placed her back in her home to warm up more and burrow. She came over to the glass where we were standing and burrowed beside us. Later that night I got her out when it was feeding time and force fed her a pinky and some crickets along with the vitamin supplement.,

After 2 months straight of here being sick and not eating on her own and having constant care and over handling she made it and because of quick action she pulled through. I do not condone over handling at all. I did what had to be done. Her first meal at the end of that 2 month ordeal was a fat juicy Hornworm which she had never had before. Now she is fat healthy and her favorite food is of course Hornworms.

There is hope. Don't give up. You and Pocket are in our thoughts and prayers.

I feel just awful and I've pretty much crashed with feverbsince I got him home. He's still alive. He's hanging out in his bowl and I'm keeping the temp a consistent 80° instead of dropping at night. I haven't fed him. I also still have his cage lined with paper towels. I'm afraid substrate will irritate him. What do you all think? I plan on a liquid diet of of the repta boost for about a month so he wont have yo digest and pass crickets. Maybe give him some red wigglers or earthworms in about two weeks. Please give any advice you all have. The vet shoved it back in and stitched him up. That was it. No other advice after that. I'm still really sick and can't watch as well as I'd like.

You can buy canned cat/dog food for sick and malnurished animals. Royal Canine makes a good one. You can suck it up in a seringe. Make sure its a solid lump. Nothing shredded or chopped because you won't be able to suck it up in the seringe. Its soft and easy for them to digest. Once opened it only lasts a week in the fridge. Every time you get it out of the fridge for feeding suck some up in the seringe and suspend the seringe in some warm water to warm the food. You'll have to coax his mouth open like force feeding. Once his mouths open carefully squeeze the food in his mouth. Very easy for them to swallow. I've used it before. Works well for sick frogs. I don't know how it will be passed though until your frog heals. It doesn't make very solid waste though. Worms will work too.

Should I start the reptaboost for a week since he's used to it and switch to dog food later? I don't feel well enough to leave house.

Yes you can do that. When you feel well enough then try the cat/dog food. If he is used to seringe feeding then you probably won't have much trouble.

What about substrate? Damp paper towels or the substrate?

It might be best to use paper towels for a few days. Give him some places to hide so he feels more secure. Keep his water clean and changed so no infection occurs.

Well, I fed Pocket his repta boost. He opened up right away. He's kinda aggressive right now. Making me nervous. He wouldn't Let go of the Syria's one time. I cleaned his dish, added fresh water. He jumped out and was flinging him self at the walls of his container. He flipped himself over and I picked him up and put him back in water and how he's calming down. I have him in a green Rubbermaid container. Should I cover it with a towel to help him feel more secure? Put him under light to make him think it's day and he'll sleep??

He's stressed. He has been through quite an ordeal. Keep him warm and you can cover him for security and use a light of you like. He will be stressed for a little bit. Being in the open and unable to burrow is stressful. he's probably pretty hungry so he will be pretty aggressive. Just be careful.

I covered the half he's in. What do you suggest using for a hiding place?
