For my wife's Birthday I ordered a couple fantasy pacman frogs from South Central Herp. She has been bugging me for awhile so I finally caved. First up is our little red fantasy.
Second up is our green green fantasy. Originally I ordered a tricolor, but this one looks like a green fantasy to me. I think somewhere in the communication he thought that when I said 'make sure he has a descent amount of green" he thought I meant green. None the less he has great color and is a chub.
beautiful frog you got there! CONGRATS!
They are both very beautiful and look very healthy. Great choices even though the Green Fantacy isn't a Tri color like you wanted.![]()
nice looking frogs makes me want to get a fantasy pacman also
Awesome man! I think when I finally move my RETF into his new viv, I'm going to clean out the 20 gal he's in now and move my Pac into it, Make it a bit more interesting looking than what his current 10 gal is looking like.
Be careful moving them into larger tanks. Most of the time they become stressed because of there being too much space and not to mention being moved into a new home makes them stressed as well. They can live their entire life in a 10 gallon tank. They don't take to change very easily.
Damn, well with that said... I'll keep the 20 gallon for a different critter(s)! I guess Ill just make his 10 gal look a bit more interesting then![]()
Thanks for the advice Grif!
I'm not saying you can't set up a 20 gallon for a Pacman. They just get stressed so easily. For example Loki my male Cranwelli has a piece of y shaped drift wood with a fake plant atop it. I tied to get rid of it and replace it with new fake plants. Well he had a fit and freaked out. So I had to return it and after a minute he settled down. Its like his security blanket. They don't like change very much at all. Adding more open space as well as it being new surroundings makes for a double stress situation.
It can be done. I don't want to detour you from a plan you have. I just want you to be prepared for what is most definetly going to happen. If you do want to do this I would keep his old tank set up and handy just incase he freakes out and doesn't settle in ok.![]()
Sorry for thread jacking D: Well Grif, you are definitely knowledgeable with this species from what I can see so I'll take all the advice you throw at me lol. I'll take caution with his environment for sure. Thank you.
Thanks all, I currently have these two in a 29g standard that is divided. Used egg crate because I am sure they can easily push through the plastic dividers. They fit in nice and tight and the holes are way to small for them to fit through.
I'm also sorry about changing the subject on your thread.
Be very careful with dividers that are not secured to the tank. I have heard many horror stories about the frog from one side managing to get through the divider and into the other side. That being said these frogs are canniblistic. And will eat their own kind. If the other frog is of equal size to the other they may fight and injure eachother or worse mortally wound one another. Always use caution. If the egg crates are not made of plastic and are paper or cardboard they will promote fungal growth which you do not want. I would try anf find a better way to divide the tank. Maybe with a piece of plexyglass or actual glass.
Thanks Grif, but these are plastic egg crate. The same that is used to divide large cichlids in fish tanks that you get from Home Depot or Lowe's. I might be new to Pacmans, but I did my homework and not new to animals in general. Father just retired as head vet at OSU Vet med so I grew up around them. Not to be down on pacmans since I love these guys. However, if my 14inch, 2lb Midas can't crash through it as tight as I put them in then these little guys sure can't push through them. I took all the precautions. I should have specified what type of egg crate, but didn't even figure someone would try and use paper or plastic.
