i got a new young A.B. that deficates very wet small wast 3 or 4 times a day and it looks like diarrhea could it be parasites or a impaction?
she eats crickits pinkey mice and worms
here is a pic of her
What are your care conditions ? (Temp, humidity...etc...).
is your frog afraid and tries to move away when you try to take it in one hand or is it completely unmoving ?
Sounds like parasites. Stress can also cause this, but since its so frequent. I'm gunna say parasites. Probably worms. I would seek out a vet that treats amphibians and give them a stool sample to have tested.
to answer the question if he runs or stays put he runs when i try to touch
Does she eat normally? Any noticable weight loss? Temps are fine. Humidity too. Stress might make the frog poop due to the responce of fear, but 4 times a day is too much. She will become dehydrated and lose weight. The sooner she gets treatment the better. Keep a close eye on her. Stool sample tesets don't take long so you can get same day results if you drop a sample off at most herp vets.
Keep us posted.
yes she eats well i have had her for just 3 weeks so not to much background on herand she has gained a little weight but she was under feed when i got her so she could still get some weight lose latter i soak her every day now because she is pooping so much i dont want her to get dehydrated my wife and i live there are no herp vets at all but she has been on a antiparasite drug for to days now and i have seen a little improvment i just wanted some others thoughts and you have all been very helpful
Hopefully she will be rid of the parasites and recover from them fully.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the frog does not have parasites. Baby ABF's deficate frequently, mine might poo 2-3 times a day, I feed daily so they are constantly digesting. I would switch the frog over to primary earthworms. I do not like the idea of feeding the frog mice @ the size it is. Crickets may not be too bad, especially if you are feeding on coco earth , aka coco fiber , may add some roughage to the yooung frogs digestive tract.
king is doing much better here is an updated pic thanks for all the great help![]()
