Default Could use the help with my 30 gal tank

Hey guys Its getting cold here. So whats the best thing to do indoors. Work on a project!!!!!!!.I just got a 30 long with a screen top. I have some questions for you guys. Sorry if i get to crazy. Please work with me since i want everything in one tank. I know it's not gonna happen . So i would appreciate as many ideas as possible. I will show you the tank later. I don't know if i should go vertical or horizontal. I don't know if i should go tree or dart frogs. Right now I'm overwhelmed with no ideas. What would you do with a 30 long with a screened lid. This is a perfect first time project .

Ooooo, I would have a hay day with this opportunity lol!!! With a 30 long tank I would do one of the following.......

1). Use it to build a woodland terrarium for a terrestrial frog—I’m more of forest type of person, although I like tropical settings. The type of land dwelling amphibians I would house would be leopard frogs, toads, Wood frogs, or maybe even some Pig frogs.

2). Create a paludarium that incorporates both terrestrial and aquatic elements, to resemble a certain biome. For example, if I wanted to create an Alaskan environment paludarium, I would house multiple critters that are naturally found here and that could live comfortably together, such as Wood frogs, insects, and small Alaskan guppy fish. Some people even create paludariums that house amphibians, reptiles (such as herbivore turtles), and birds together! Now that would be a remarkable enclosure, although the terrarium/housing area would have to be bigger.

3). Create a vivarium for dart frogs, which would have a waterfall or stream in it. I’ve always wanted to have dart frogs, especially the Golden dart frog. Maybe one day....patiently waiting :/.

All the settings would be created with the tank sided horizontally . I hope you find something unique and remarkable to do with it George......I’m excited for you and can’t wait to see what you come up with!

With a screen lid? I probably wouldn't keep frogs in it, unless it were desert toads.

You could try some lizards or snakes unless you really want amphibians, then you could go with dart frogs, wood frogs, or really any (mostly) terrestrial frog. Tree frogs would do better in a 30 gallon tall

I don't want to sound cynical, but if I were you I would sell the tank, find a species that I truly enjoy, and then get a proper tank for it. I'm personally no fan of this "I have a tank what do I put in it"-mentallity.

Why not design a vivarium for an amphibian or reptile that you already have? I did that once when I got my 20 gal tank.....my frogs were happy with the bigger space. Just a thought .

You could do a LOT...I personally have 2 wood frogs and a leopard frog in my current viv. Creating the forest floor environment. If you flip it up on end you could house a couple of tree frogs. It all depends on opinion, personally I would go with a dart frog viv, because I've always wanted one, but have yet to gather the money. You could make a D. Auratus, D. Leucomelas, or maybe a Tinc morph? Those are my favorite looking darts, but there are many many more herpers on this forum that are better versed in the ways of PDFs . Good luck!
