I've never seen a gray treefrog come close to being brown like her example. We have chorus frogs, like the Pacific treefrog, Psuedacris regilla, which I think used to be Hyla regilla. Which brings the question of what do you call a treefrog, and also what will a petstore call a treefrog

I still can't find any picture of what I saw :S It's not the gray tree frog, it was a dusty colour, not shiney.

Grays are highy variable, I've seen brown, green, white, gray. some that are even almost black. Yea the pacific treefrog was reclassified as a chorus frog. When I said that I meant "true" treefrogs of the genus Hyla, Canada also has spring peepers and chorus frogs. I doubt a pet store would have any Psuedacris, they would be too small.

Neat, none of my local grays go brown (of the hundreds I've seen). All the other shades you've mentioned but never a full on brown. I need to travel more. As you may know, Peepers used to be Hyla as well. I'd also seriously doubt them as a pet store possibility.

An option is to call the pet store and ask? They may know more. Sorry to have started what has turned into a lengthy side-track
