Idea for the 40 gal

Actually I was going to take the marineland 250 from my forty gal for the frogs. I always over filter ... Plus I read to do at least double filtration with ACF to control waste. Heck I could Just leave the 40 with its filtration and put in the frogs. I dont know I'll figure it out ... I have lots of options.

Over filtration in the case of the two animals mentioned will not benefit you as much as proper maintainance will. However the Marineland 250 is by no means over filtering a 40 gallon. The package may say the filter is rated for a certain size, but the ratings are baked. 250 gallons per hour pre-media is not too much for a 40 gallon. Your idea of double filtration and mine are off a bit.

i must comment that different species of amphibian should not be mixed - -axolotls secrete different toxins than acf into the water and the species should never be housed together - -

young axolotls are aggressive and you risk the acf taking a bite out of the yummy and fun looking gill of the axolotl.


always house completely separate - different filtration systems, different tanks, different netting - everything unique and void of any sharing between systems.

um thats one of two filters on the tank. That is rated for 50 gallons and the other is a 30 gallon in tank ... And of course I'd properly maintain it

Also it was just an idea I will convert the forty to a species tank and get a thirty and also set that up as a species tank when The time comes. I'll probably choose Axolotls or ACF Though I'm kinda leaning toward Axolotl I've wanted them since I first saw them.
