Hi again guys,
As you know, I'm just at planning stage, and really boning up on tropical tree frog care.
The space I'm planning to have my viv, is in my bedroom. Should there be any considerations over how the viv may smell?
I mean, can they stink a whole room out, or would you say that having a viv in a bedroom is fine?
I plan to build like:
LECA > Screen > Substrate > Live plants
Thanks to you all (again) in advance,

I use to keep 2 vivs and a snake tank in a tiny studio apartment, and now have 2 vivs and the snake tank in a bedroom. I don't have a problem. The only time I ever actually came across a bad smell was when a couple crickets got into a space the frog couldn't get to and died and started rotting. Crickets stink. But still, I had to get pretty close to it to notice. If you keep up on maintenance and spot cleaning, I doubt you'll have a problem.
Hi Mike, the viv should not smell bad at all. If everything in it is natural it should have an earthy smell. If your viv smells bad something is wrong, if your bedroom smells bad something is definately wrong![]()
And if your bedroom smells and people complain, you can't blame the frogs.![]()
I would say that we should get back on topic but the title of this thread does imply a comparison between the viv and bedroom smell.![]()
With live plants, it should smell fine.
Another bunch of great help, thanks so much guys!
Actually there's a thing, my bedroom smells good actually (thank you very much) but i do use aerosol deodorants - will i need to be carefull with these?
