Welcome Aliza.
I too am very new to frogs. So new I haven't even gotten any yet rotfl. I am working on their tank now. You will like it here, very helpful folks
I love the red eyed tree frogs! Cuties they are.
I'm primarily a gecko person (I actually am a co-editor of geckotime.com) and just made my first foray into frogs. I got 3 red eyed tree frogs two weeks ago after reading about them in Reptiles Magazine. They're housed in a 20"x10"x24" viv heavily planted with pothos and snake plants (and a jewel orchid that seems to have survived). The enclosure is planted heavily enough that it's hard to see them and impossible to tell if they're eating (though I don't see any crickets in there when I look). I'm enjoying them, though they don't really get going till after midnight, which is OK because neither do I.

Thanks. I wanted tiny dart frogs but I just can't cope with another feeder species (crickets, super worms, mealworms and the occasional purchase of hornworms and silkworms). These will likely be my only frogs; I couldn't resist the colors!

I love our red eyes. Im upset both of ours are boys. But we love them and are hunting a female. I remember when ours were that wee lmao. They get big fast, and fat(well mine are). What kind of geckos do you keep? Ive never had one, but always wanted a pair of dark brown and orange/red cresties... their eyes are odd but those rich earth tones are spectacular!

I have end of workday dumb brain...but what?? Just starting out? I had to check and see if this was an old dug up post.
Welcome to the forum, Aliza! Always nice to have a fellow reds loverYou can try bowl feeding so you can see exactly how many crickets your frogs are eating. Over time, your frogs should get less shy. You can also cover 3 sides of the tank with paper, if you haven't already, to help them get more comfortable.

I mostly keep and breed leopard geckos. I also breed African Fat Tail geckos, gargoyle geckos and SW banded geckos (Coleonyx: small, similar to leopard geckos, native to SW United States). In addition, I have a few specimens of: crested gecko, leachianus gecko, P. klemmeri and gold dust day gecko as well as 2 bearded dragons and a steppe runner. I can't believe I got frogs on top of all that!

Welcome to theaddictionHobby! Frogs are beautiful! I love Reds. A trick you may have heard of already is feeding your frogs from a Pyrex glass bowl. The crickets can't climb or jump on the glass and your frogs will quickly learn to dive into the bowl to collect their prey. Helps you keep tabs on how many they are eating and remove any uneaten crickets in the morning![]()
