I'm going to dose my frog today with pancur-c. I see that it states on this page 25mg/kg Of weight. Does this actually mean 25 Milligrams per kilogram of weight? Was this a mistake? Did they mean 25mg per Gram of weight?

    It means what it states. You are using a canine remedy on a very small animal and it is hard to dose at that minute level. Just dust the crickets for 3 feedings, it's really easy. In case I didn't say it before;
    DUST THE CRICKETS

I'm back. There is only one tadpole left, but it is doing very well. It has all it's legs and arms and jumps around every now and then. It's so cute When will it start needing something to eat other than fish food? Thanks so much.

When the tail is fully formed. That should be any day now.

    You're welcome very much.

    Thanks

Ok, I bought some food, wardley reptile sticks; it says "This is a nutritionally balanced, floating stick ideal for all aquatic reptiles (e.g. turtles, frogs, newts)..." It says frogs so I thought it might be okay.
I didn't open it yet so it can still be returned. Do you think this is okay for the tadpole?
I know that live food is better, but I don't think my parents really want little creepy crawly things that could possibly get loose in the house.

    Default Panacur

I am planning on getting PANACUR in the oral form for my pacman since I suspect worms. My pacman is only about an inch in diameter so I am not sure what I should do about dosing since he is small. PANACUR comes in mL intervals. Thanks.

I don't use the liquid form. Kurt does and could help you with that. I use the powder because I dust the food once a month as a precaution for my collection. That reminds me, tomorrow I need to start another course

Kurt is one of our fearless and dare I say "sexy" leaders. When you see his profile pic that will make sense. He is one of our Admins, go to almost any thread and you will find him. His username is Kurt as well.

Flagyl (Metronidazole) I googled this and it came back as being a prescription. Is this true?

You can find it if you look in fish medications under generic names. Metroplex is a generic that comes to mind.

Unhappy Re: Basic Frog First Aid

Hi I am new to this Forum -

How do I treat my WTF with Panacure C powder if She will not eat the crickets -- ???

She is 3 inches long and is 2 years old - her skin looks good - she had some skin shed pieces on her last night around her legs

She has only eaten 1 cricket in 7 days - She hangs out in the back of the cage on the moss- before she started acting like this she used to be up in the vines all the time when sleeping.

When we try to brush her nose with a cricket she squeaks at us and turns her head.

She has a mate - he still eats - but it seems not as much either. Before Christmas the female would eat 5-7 crickets every 2 days.

She was soaking with her butt in the water hole this morning for awhile i noticed.

Cage temps are 66 degrees in the night according to the heating pad under the Vivarium
They are 68 in the day under. The room temp in day is 69 - 71 and 68 at night in the room -- Winter here now.

substrate is coco husks with moss over - and water runs under with a pump thru clay balls and the water hole is lined with creek rocks.

Can i give her Panacur and Flagyl at the same time and Baytril? Or do they need to be alternated and how do I do this ?

Drops to the skin with a dropper - and How many for a 3 inch frog- or do I put drops in a bath ?

Should I bath her in Pedialyte if she is not eating at all -- how much ? do i mix with water too or pure pedialyte? How often ?

Thanking YOu in advance --- Mom of WTF beauties

You need to find out what is wrong. A fecal exam will tell you if it has parasites. The only reason I suggest Panacur so readily is because it is safe and effective and wont hurt to try it if the animal is exhibiting symptoms that indicate intestinal worms. Do not use this "shotgun" approach with other medications without a diagnosis. If it won't eat and is getting worse, get it to a vet.

For the metronidazole liquid what concentration does it come in??? I only ask cause I am a vet tech but we only ever use tablets and I have lloked at several pharamcies and they do not have the suspension either. Could you just crush up a 250 mg tablet and use it to dust food and put in spray bottle to mist habitat??
For the Baytril can you use Baytril Otic?
    Thanks in advance. Nicole
