So I have an idea how many pieces if egg crate did you use, and did you cover the egg crate with weed paper or mosquito proof screen. I figured weed paper since the screen would be underwater.

I don't have any dracenae. The plant in the upper center planter is a airplane plant, if that is what plant you are speaking of.
I used less then one sheet in this build. I cover mine is some heavy duty weed paper that I had on hand from my work. It is about 4 times thicker then normal stuff. I used it below the water line to keep the fish and frogs out from under the land mass and anywhere the substrate may fall into the water.
I had planned to use mosquito screen but im thinking it may rust underwater.
No daughter today so going to start the tank today just putting the eggcrate in, no filter and only one can of GS foam haha
Tank holds water just put 6 inches in which is more than I plan on using. Better to be safe than sorry, have done left over wood and mopan Also have some tree fern panel pieces I want to put on the drip wall.
I couldn't find anything that I thought would be shallow yet large enough to make small pools. Other than these small food dishes. Would these work?
Finished the egg crate thank god, stuff is a pain. But I figured I can use coconut halves for the pools. Just have to get a few from Mike over at glassbox tropicals. Just going to cover it with weed paper, and figure out what to use for the substrate in the water section. I'll most likely use ABG for the land portion. The top of the stream I'm going to make a drip wall and GS a piece of fern panel and small river rocks to make it look natural.
I have decided if I want to do 2 or 3 plants in tge back wall
