It is strange. Underwater they look black, but when he occasionally basks on the surface or comes up for air, they are CLEARLY red.

It's looking like it! I moved them from there temporary "cottage" for 2.5 gallons and now they are in their 20 gallon it is MUCH easier to see the eye color.
Now it's just a wait game to see what he turns into.
While the whole dying process is horrible in cruel, I can't help but to think of this as "yeah, I can't wait until the dye gets off of him, then I can see the real treasure of his markings/coloring etc"

I just visited a store "Pet supplies PLUS" and they had tanks of very small ACFs. I wanted to complain to someone, especially since some of the little guys were looking like they couldn't handle the process or the tank water. Not to mention that it wasn't good to carry these animals who were dyed "tutti fruitti" and how cruel of a process it is
They also didn't carry any Seachem products, which just added to the disappointment.

I'm just glad I gave my dyed frog a good home and don't mind his blotchiness as he outgrows the dye.

Also thank you to everyone on this thread and forum. You all are great
