I realize the argument of substrates is a heated one and not one I'd like to venture into without an actual test developed that compared substrates using the proper methods including controls. From what I can tell when looking at various reports of impaction it can be attributed to improper husbandry (calcium deficiency, dehydration, etc.). In the wild debris is consumed along with food items. Certain items can be intuitively seen as poor substrate choices (desiccants, etc.). If properly hydrated coco fiber, soil, and sphagnum moss (smaller bite size bits of course....not huge knots) should pass right through. That said, to be safe I attempt to minimize the amount of substrate ingested when feeding. I realize the warning was in the interest of the frog's well being and I appreciate the concern.
