Pyxie or pacman?

I have both, I would say the Pyxie is more interesting. However, they eat a lot and need more space than a pacman. Also if they bite you it is going to hurt quite a bit more than the pacman. Just my thoughts.

One more thought, I know you have a little brother, which is something to consider. The pacman may be a better bet if he is going to have his hands near the frog.

I was going to write "Bring out the pink balloons, I'm a girl!" but I really, REALLY, dislike pink. So, let us just leave it at that. Just to avoid further confusion, my actual first name is Jo-Anna; Jace is just a screen name I use to keep people on their toes...and it seems to have worked!

Now to the question at hand. I, too, have had a Pacman and I am currently the very proud owner of 3 full grown but still relatively young Pyxies (2 males and 1 female). I have to say, based on personal experience, I find the Pyxies to be much more entertaining. At certain times, they can be very active and feeding times are always good for a laugh. On that note, they can get very large. Large things may not need to eat every single day, but when they do eat, they can eat a lot. When they go through their inactive periods-and they do, quite often-you are going to have a wonderful tank of....well, dirt. Not very exciting. However, of the two, I would definitely pick a Pyxie every single time without question.

As a beginner pet for a young child, of the two, I would again pick Pyxie. If the child is shown the correct way to interact with any frog, and is monitored closely during those interactions, I doubt if any serious harm will come to either the child or the frog. My daughter was not fond of the Pacman and would not go near it, but she has touched, held and interacted with each of the Pyxies and is quite proud of telling her friends "I touched him (or her)!" My eldest Pyxie tolerates being handled very well and is not aggressive during feedings. However, if you are looking for a frog that is active more during the day and is engaging and quirky, I would go with neither of these frogs and look into Fire-Bellied Toads or even an African Clawed Frog.
