Peggy doesn't seem to want to eat.

She was fed crickets before I got her. So, am I allowed to start freaking out if she doesn't eat after her first week? I neglected to mention that she ate a few crickets in her deli cup the day of the reptile show.

If she is used to eating crickets then offer her them. Once she becomes acclimated begin to offer her new foods she has never had.

After a week there is still not a lot to be concerned about yet, but any longer than a week and a half may be an issue.

Horned frogs cue in on movements of potential preys. At times nightcrawlers don't move nearly enough to gain the attention or a feeding response from the frog.

Mine almost never takes nightcrawlers based on movement alone. That's why it took me so long to get her on them. I finally just got her to where I could rub it on her lips and she will take it, but it took forever for her to associate that with food.

A good rule is not to panic about a frog not eating unless it starts losing weight or you have good reason to believe something bad is causing a change in appetite. Just cover three sides of her tank and keep traffic around her to a minimum for a few days, she'll probably calm down quicker that way.

I am pleased to announce that Peggy's eating like a hog as of today. I dumped in some crickets today after school, and she ate very well-evidently she was hungry enough to chase after them like she's a Pyxie frog or something! If I'll always be getting a feeding response like that, the only thing I'll have to worry about is overfeeding her! Now, is it normal for them to burrow as far down as they can after a big meal? Also, how am I going to get her accustomed to nightcrawlers?

Night Crawler feeding takes patience. You'll want her to learn to tong feed first so she doesn't ingest alot of substrate with the worm.

I'm of the opinion that tong feeding frogs is for sissies. Lol, is it okay to hand feed her?
