Yeah I wouldn't keep frogs with gravel I use sphagnum moss and coco peat mainly as it also helps with humidity.

~ Australian frogs Gotta love them
Yeah i'm the same, got organic soil, topped with coco peat then spaghnum moss. I also feed outside the enclosure just cos im paranoid about them eating more than the other. Great combo for live plants and keeping the humidity at great levels.
Luckily i haven't had mine escape, although i did wake up and found one of them behind my background wallno idea how he got there but it was an absolute pain the bottom to get him out.
I didn't realise you could keep western spotted, although its a cat 4 which means i have to wait a year, because you have to have your reptile a year and be deemed a competent keeper with a reference to get it. Wished i lived in the Eastern States, you guys have some wicked herpetofauna that we can't get over here
Thanks Lynn for the link, is that thread a sticky? Just that would be great for newbies doing research on frogs, or is there a "what not to do" section for newbies where that could be posted?
yeah, i have my tank filled with gravel, when i get my pay, i will have to order some through the local pet store. are my small marshy's ok with gravel ?
lol, they are about 4.5 inches big, i now have 100% organic soil in there on top of gravel and they love it
