I've noticed a lump on Trevor's back in the past week or soIt's tiny (about the size of my little fingernail, maybe smaller), hard like bone, and on the back left hip bone. Like, there's a similar bony place on the right side, but you can only feel it not see it, and I think that's his hip bone. It's like the left on is swollen or something? Anyway, it hasn't changed since I noticed it, and it may have been there longer, but I just don't know.
It kind of has me worried, because she's been acting pretty stressed this past week and not eating well. One night she kept jumping and nose-rubbing the side of her tank for almost half an hour at like four in the morning after I tried to feed her (the tank is in my room. I covered the cage with a scarf and went to bed, but I could still hear her). She's only been eating one or two roaches every day or two. She may just be slowing down after making up for her almost two-month hunger strike while I was at school, but noticing the lump has made me paranoid.
She doesn't seem to have any problems moving around, still looks fat, and doesn't seem to have any trouble when she does take roaches.
The only thing I can think of that is any different about her enclosure is that it's probably a bit too wet right now because she's been sloshing her water out into the substrate... Still burrowing though, so I'm guessing it's not too swampy.
Is this lump something I should be worried about? Could it be related to the slowed-down eating and acting stressed? I remember a couple similar threads about lumps on frogs' backs but I can't find them...
Get a few good pics of her up so we can check it out. She could have scoliosis and you just never noticed it because its not bad enough and you were away all the time. I have a Frog that has Scoliosis and it looks like a lump, but the distortion of his lower spine is very apparent and easily seen. He's a year old so the scoliosis should not progress further. He eats well and does everything a Pacman frog does. He is also a big teddybear and will sit in your hand and not feel the need to leave it.
I adopted him from Mike of Mike's Phat Frogs.
Huh, never thought of that. I guess scoliosis wouldn't be harmful for the frog as long as it's minor?
It's kind of hard to actually see, but next time she's in a position where it'll show up I'll try and snap a picture of it.
She randomly decided to be hungry again today, so I'm not as worried now. I just freaked out because I noticed the lump around the time she decided to stop eating for a few days!
Good idea. Come to think of it, that's the only time I can really see the place instead of just feeling it.
I'm just gonna leave my camera beside the tanks I think, so I'll be able to get a picture.
