I can't seem to locate a LOW wattage night time bulb.. will not need over summer, but we've had some chilly nights recently and i'd rather buy a bulb rather than turn up the heat in my entire house! ;( Anyway, I read that the fluorescent "party" bulbs (i see at LOEW'S) are only painted red & will bother my white's at night?? this true? any links to a site where I can buy??
what about the exo terra night light bulbs in blue?
I can't find them anywhere.. All basking lights and the coolest I can find are 40watt incandescent... I'm not concerned about color, actually prefer blue Josh.. whichever color is least intrusive (plus it would be neat to observe her at night) I will order if i can't find in-store..
joshsfrogs.com has them
Is it blue or red bulbs for night I have heard both, Todd from Light Your Reptiles recommended Red for frogs at night.
i'd think twice about using blue light for your animals.

What about a low wattage ceramic heat emitter on a dimmer switch? They offer heat with out light. I believe white's prefer darkness at night.

1.0.0 Red Eyed Leaf Frog
good choice
I agree! I have wasted so much $$$ on night bulbs. My RETFs are most definitively disturbed by both the red and the blue lights. I spend a lot of time watching my frogs ( especially , lately !) I put a light ( 60 watt bulb) on---- in a lamp way behind where I am sitting. It is plenty of light and does not seem to disturb them. I also sit w/ my ipad ( so I can be on FF - lol) The light from the screen does not seem to bother them either. Then, when I leave they are in complete darkness all night. I use ceramics hanging/suspended from the basement ceiling to heat- the heat is directed toward the side of the enclosures , not the top.
