New Pacman frog!

Hi! This is my first post here. I just got a pacman frog this week and I had a couple questions. I have read so much conflicting information on pacman frogs and how much babies are supposed to eat and how often. I have no idea if I'm over feeding him/her. The first 24 hours I had him he at 12 crickets!! He did look quite skinny when I got him but he sure doesn't anymore lol. So far today he's about about 5 total. these are the tiny crickets by the way. I was told by the pet store I should be feeding about 5 twice a day. That seems like a lot.

Also, right now I have a daylight bulb on the warm side of the tank. I've been keeping it on all day. Is that okay or should he be getting less extreme light like that? It is florescent but not a UVB.

One last question: How fast do these guys grow? He's about an inch long, maybe less. I'm thinking he might be getting ready to shed his skin though because he ate A LOT these past couple days!

They should be fed. Everyday, but not twice a day. 5 crickets per night is fine. You can also just start feeding him however much he. Will eat in 15 minutes, but 5. Per night is a good start. You should give him a varied diet so crickets/chuncks of nightcrawler. Occationally offer him waxworms/mealworms, but only one or 2 per week. Silkworms are an excellent feeder for frogs right up with the nightcrawlers and earthworms. Be sure to dust his food with a multivitamin once a week and with a calcium supplement that contains Vitamin D3 every other feeding.

It is. Ok to use a heat light. Fluorescents are usually too bright and do not release. Much heat. You should use incandescent bulbs combined with a. Lamp that has a dimmer switch so you can control how much light and heat is produced by the bulb. Fluorescents cannot be dimmed without a special dimmer. You should place a UTH(Under Tank Heater) on the warm side of the tank(on the actual side or back of the tank not the bottom). This will aid you in maintaining correct temps. Babies should be kept at 80 to 82 during the day and 75 to 79 at night, but hover around 78. Humidity should be maintained at 80%. It is fine if you remain in the 70 to 80% range though.

Substrate should be moist or heavily damp not muddy. Make sure that all water you use to exspand his substrate/use in his water dish/ and mist with is de-chlorinated water or natural spring water.

I definitely think I'll reduce the food a bit. He was just so skinny when I brought him home that I figured he probably could use the extra meals! I don't think I could find silkworms around here but earthworms sound like a good idea. I gut load the crickets with flucker farms cricket quencher and the flucker farms calcium fortified sawdust looking stuff (forgot what they call it!). Should I still dust the crickets too?

The florescent light gives off pretty much no substantial heat. I'm using an UTH for warmth. However, I did put it on the bottom (just following directions on the package!). It only covers one corner, so will it be alright? I'm not sure I can pry it off the bottom and stick it on the side :/. The temp and humidity are staying in a really good range. I actually need to back off on the misting because the humidity gets as high at 90% sometimes. I have one live plant in there (not sure of the species, I got it at petco) and plan on putting another in there. I forget what kind, I can look later and post. I really want to go for a really nice planted look so he feels secure and it looks really nice.

And I've been using repti-safe to dechlorinate (it has vitamins in it too!) and sometimes spring water.
