    Default Is Styrofoam safe?

I was wondering if using plain white Styrofoam - like from a cheapo cooler - was safe with out any sealant on it. You wont be able to see it in the tank, so i didn't want to seal it with silicone or anything. Thanks!

well, lots of people use styrofoam in tanks, myself included but its usually covered with silicone + coco fiber, grout, or cement. Leaving it uncovered maylead to your animals eating it or crickets or whatever insect you feed with picking away it, and well, what your insects eat your animal eats as well

Thanks, I hadn't thought about that! Its going to be covered completely by other things in the aquarium, so i don't think it will be a problem for the crickets, but will it release anything that will be harmful to the fire bellies?

I have a stone wall I made awhile back to divide the water from the land, however its just for show, the water goes through the wall because of all the gaps between rocks. I wanted to make it 100% dry so the pants would fair better and didn't want to get glass cut since im broke. I can build a custom "island" to fit inside the wall out of Styrofoam for much cheaper since i have everything i need.
