I am still feeding two crickets a night, and he has never refused any amount of food, even if it's more than that once in a while. Think I should stick to routine? Maybe more food, less often? This is my first pacman, so I'm still learning everyday.
You can start feeding him more. Even everyday. Try night crawlers. Cut them in appropriate sizes. About an inch. Very nutritious for Pacmans.

Are nightcrawlers the same as earthworms? And also, will they live after I cut them? I've been a bit cautious to switch to something else since I have only just gotten myself into a good cricket rhythm (care, feeding them to Nugget, etc). I'm worried that he won't be too keen on eating from tongs either (I tried once and it was a no-go), and don't want him eating substrate, but moving him to a feeding tank would not work as he is not a big fan of me touching him at all. :/

Yes night crawlers are earth worms only they get a lot larger than normal earth worms. They can reginerate as lon as they are not split longways. Start at the tail and cut pieces off. I switch to a new worm every time I cut a piece off. The tail is a liter color than the head so you will be able to tell the difference. You won't have to feed the worms and they live for a long time when kept in the fridge. No risk of contaninating food because the worms are sealed in a tub. Make sure that the worms don't contain dyes or chemicals. Check to make sure the worms are good too. They should not smell bad/have mold in the tub/ or be dead. You can easily tell healthy worms.

It is best that he does not ingest substrate, but a little won't hurt. Make sure you clean off any of the dirt that the worms are housed in off before offering each piece to Nugget. He may try them on his own. Just cut a 1 inch piece off and set it or drop it in front of him. You can dust the worm pieces by sprinckling a little on a paper towel and rub the worm piece in the dust them offer it to him.

Worms are very nutritious and can even be used as a staple diet.

Awesome. I actually have a fridge in my room that has some froggy stuff in it already. I think my mom might freak out if there were worms in the fridge downstairs where we keep our food lol. How many one inch pieces should I feed him at a time at his age? I am actually making a trip to Petsmart sometime this week so I think I'll try some out.

You can give him about 5 pieces and that should be fine. The pieces you cut off will still wiggle and squirm so they will attract his attension.

Let me know how he likes them.

Oh boo. I drove all the way to Petsmart and they didn't have any, or any worms for that matter. Guess I will try again tomorrow at Petco!

Nugget looks awesome I might try nightcrawlers cuz crickets are kinda getting on my nerves. Can't you get nightcrawlers from the sporting/fishing section of walmart? Are the quality of those any different?

Nugget seemed to be okay with the nightcrawlers, or he may have just been hungry. He ate three pieces. He had the fourth in his mouth at one point but spit it out. He still isn't too keen on tong feeding, so I'm not sure how well this is going to go. It took me almost an hour to just get him to eat the three pieces, while he usually eats dinner in 10-15 minutes.

Some take time to adjust to new foods. He will probably deside that he likes them next feeding. atleast he ate 3 pieces. Most won't even try new foods at first.

i love your grumpy froggy!! My Geralds grumpy too, and seems to frown at me sometimes!

Your feeding rotines sound good so far, I tell you what helps me loads is a plain calender which i write down mealtimes. Example on one day he'l have "crickets x3" 10.30am and "mealworm x2" 11am. This way i don't overfeed him too much, and i know what sort of variety he's getting every few days. The calender is stuck on my fridge.
It is also a great help as I know when i can transfer some good specimens into the gutloading container ready for his next feed!!

I'm pretty sure he's a male Ornate because in one of the pictures he has a darkish speckled throat. Though I'm not sure...! I would cry if Gerald was a Geraldine!!

That's a good feeding schedule Hornedfairy. Don't cry if you have a female. Females get really big and are just as much fun to own as males even though they don't call. I have a pair and love them both. Dark spots on their throat isn't always a sure sign of a male. Not to burst your bubble. Ornates tend to have a lot of spots even if female. So that's. Why its not accurate. In Cranwellis it can be a decent indicator, but alass still not right all the time. Loki my male does have the dark spots all over his throat and they haven't faded at all. Grif had them all the way from baby to juvinile and after she started becoming and older juvinile they faded and are almost gone.

So basically the only true indicators are either nuptual pads when the frog reaches sexul maturity or if your little froggy starts calling.

Thank you! I actually have been looking into a calendar- somewhat for feedings like you do, but also to keep track of when I give him calcium and his multivitamin (though its usually the same days each week). I think its an awesome idea, thanks for letting me know it works for you.
