Nomenclature: Triturus marmoratus
IUCN Red List: Least Concern
Country of Origin: Most of France, Northern Spain and West to Portugal.

Information: This species is 1 of 6 species in the Triturus (Crested Newt) genus and is predominantly a terrestrial species throughout it's juvenile and adult life stages until it reaches it's Courtship & Breeding Period where males and females travel to pools to produce their offspring.

It has been listed as Least Concern by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, mainly due to it being commonly found throughout it's distribution range in the wild. It is mainly threatened by Agricultural Expansion, Pollution, Draining of Breeding Pools and even Disease - Iridovirus, which is believed to have been possibly spread through the introduction of the Predatory Fish species, the Pumpkinseed Sunfish (Lepomis gibbosus).
