    Default Parasite checklist

Does anyone know of a parasite checklist for frogs? I'm going to test my frogs' poop myself, as there are no reliable or affordable vets around here.

    I'll try to help you.

In the meantime you could email vet DNA and ask about shipping a fecal from Canada.
This doesn't sound practical though as fecals need to be 'fresh'. But maybe?

Proper fecal testing requires years of experience using float method testing and a very expensive microscope with the knowledge of being able to tell the difference between a thin strand of hair, normal fecal/soil debris, and true fecal parasites. If you ~ think ~ you see a parasite how will you treat your frog without the assistance of a vet for the proper medication and dosage? Proper medication choices are based on proper identification. Proper medication doses are based on the weight of the frog.

There ~ just ~ must be a vet near Alberta:

Thank you! The only way I can gain experience is by practice right? I've been reading up a lot on fecal testing and how to do the float method. Of course I will need to be able to identify the parasites, hence this thread. Medication dosage and choice is tricky. I can either email a vet and ask, or maybe someone here on frog forum knows.

Although their is a few vets in Alberta, I've heard very mixed reviews about most. I will not allow just anyone to treat my frogs, you know?

    Anyways, thanks for the reply.
