or would i be better off getting a free 10 gallon tank and just buying a screen for 10 bucks
petsmart has a 20 gallon for 32 brand new
no it doesnt have screen but id still save like 30 bucks just to take the one from my friend and yeah i feel if i do get a baby it might not find the food right away becasue of how big the tank would be
thats what i thought. i know this is the wrong but grif you might be able to help my american toads have disappeared in my tank the last 2 days there is no possible way out and they have not eaten the crickets do you have any tips
Toads will periodically burrow into the substrate and sort of do mini aestivation periods. They will resurface when hungry usually. You can try to bring them out by raising the temp slightly(not much) and maybe the humidity level as well.
How long have they been under?
i didnt see them at all yesterday and they still arent out now
no they are juveniles i will go do that right now how deep do they usually go because there is abput 3 inches of substrate
i found one and the other followed
oh my, my pac tries to eat my finger if i put my hand in.. i would never put another frog in with him!
Mine has never tried to bite me... But he won't hesitate to bite my mom. I still don't know how he recognizes me, but it's funny.
Trevor is still in a five gallon and is full grown. Gonna get a 10 gallon in a month or two, but it just illustrates that they really don't need a lot of space. :P
American toads are nocturnal as wellI've got a couple 'pet' wild ones that have learned to come up to me for leftover crickets and roaches. They go into holes under my porch during the day, so your little ones might have just been trying to get out of the light... Are the wild caught (not that it really matters, just curious)?
Yeah i figured ive watched a few videos and they just attack anything that moves
I've always wondered how good their eyesight is. I know they can sense motion really well, but I'm not sure how sharp they can see detail, like if they could recognize faces (some types of colubrid snakes can recognize faces). Never really thought about the voice thing... Makes sense though.
Regardless, I'm glad he recognizes me as the person he doesn't want to bite, since I've been told it's not pleasant. lol
