Hi,
I changed my toadlet's diet on Monday from flightless fruit flies to pinhead crickets. I must say, he did eat three rather big ones...but he hasn't pooped since then! I have watched him attempt to...he will squeeze/strain and I will see poop start to come out, but then it goes back in when he stops? Haven't actually seen any around the tank. I have seen him try maybe 3 or 4 times. He doesn't appear to be in discomfort, but it concerns me! I fed him two very small crickets on Tuesday, but I haven't fed him since then because he hasn't pooped. What if the crickets he ate on Monday were too big and now he can't pass them? Actually, they were two crickets and one red roach that was thrown in there. He is probably and American or Fowler's toad and he is only the size of a quarter. Should I be worried? Is there anything I can do?
Warm some water and add a few drops of pure honey into the soaking dish Make sure he stays in there for a while (most toads will hang out for a long time since it feels so good). This should help stimulate him to poop. I would hold off on food until you see poop, or you notice Wasabi thinning out.
