I have this mould growing on a piece of wood I recently boiled and left in my empty tank to dry, what should I do with it? Is this just a natural process, this particular piece was going to be used as part of the water section, and I can't recall one hundred percent but I'm sure I had something similar in my Reed frogs tank years ago that I was told not to worry about and it went away on its own..
It looks like normal mold growth from being wet.

Growing more aggressively now... Does any of this look worrying or will it calm down after a bit? I think I need springtails, but I can't put my substrate in because this is the wood that seperate my substrate and pond!
That's normal. Are you keeping it in the tank? Or removing it?

You can go ahead and construct your build with wood molding over . Even if you had baked it dry; it would still have fungi growing on it for a while once it's in humid environment.
Not sure if you are having the wood as decor between wet and dry section, or actually trying to use wood as a dam between water and dry substrate. If the last; that is very risky and probably won't work .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
This is how it's gonna be used, there's a false bottom, it's just to stop the substrate from falling in.
If that gives any sort of picture!
looks amazing with it, although the water might get a little dirty , what i suggest is you fill the water and empty it 5 times with 20 minutes interval so you get to have a clean water for 4-5 days. personally i think the mold is normal for now, good luck it looks amazing
That looks really good
Mold could be present on it for as long as several weeks. Sometimes it is much shorted, but it is perfectly normal

So I have literally just got back from my local pet shop, bought some aquarium gravel, rinsed it and finished my pond section! I filled it with tap water treated with aquarium dechlorinator just as a test.
Very happy with this as a first build so far!
The water is only around 2 cm deep, which I will keep an eye on to know when to empty the false bottom.
Only things I need to do now are get glass to replace this excellent tin foil lid stopping the flies getting in, and plant it!
BTW the water is pretty darn clear despite not having changed it yet... Could this be because I rinsed the leca, wood, gravel and slate so thoroughly before putting them in the tank?
OH and as another note, what do you guys think will make best use of a viv like this? (even if it's not an amphibian!) I know it isn't planted but I built it with Dart Frogs in mind yet am open to any suggestions, I love darts and red eyes, but the nocturnal part isn't too fun when it comes to tree frogs. I've only kept Reed frogs before this and while I loved them, barely seeing them out and about unless I had a late night was a real downer.
Looks good! Can you post a shot of the whole tank in one picture and what are the dimensions of the tank?

I'll post a picture of the full tank tonight when I'm in, but the dimensions are 60x45x60cm or I think 24x18x24'
There's a pic of the full tank, sorry the camera on my phone is terrible.
Mold still going strong too! I need springtails, stat!
I'm really lovin' the hardscape so far I can't wait to see what plants are going in. You should start a halfway-through build journal and show us how it ends up turning out.

A Tank that size you really have a lot of options. 24x18 have a lot of floor space. Dart frogs would love it. If it was a dart frog that enjoys climbing (think leucs) all you would need would be to add some vines or sticks that reach up into the vertical space
Springtails don't technically eat mold, it will run it's course
