Hello, I am new to this forum. I do not own any frogs yet, as I am doing my research before buying any.
I have a question about misters; are they necessary? Or are there other options for keeping frogs moist? Thanks in advance,
-xpertfrogger
To keep it simple, you don't need a mister. To keep your frog moist just pour dechlorinated/RO water into the substrate. But it really depends on what frog you are going to keep, and what type of enclosure it will be in as to whether it needs a mister or not. The only alternative to a mister that I can think of would be, to grab a bowl or cup of dechlorinated/RO water and splash it everywhere inside the enclosure. You can buy a hand mister at a dollar store or, buy a gallon pump mister for 10 bucks at a petco.
Thanks! I have another question, what kind of substrate do most people use for their frogs?
What species or taxa of frog are you considering?
Whites tree frog.
Also how big of a tank do they need?
To me when it comes to arboreal biggest you can afford is best, plus you can house some more frogs of the same species. Whites can live a long time also.
I can only comment on the vivs I have used, exo terra are good and I would go for 90 cm x 45 x 90 model.
I have a 20 gallon tank.
Exo Terra Eco Earth works great, a 30 Gallon for a pair or just one frog works the best. The bigger tank the better because this is one of the biggest tree frog species in the world.

The good thing as well is the frog originates from Australia and the Pothos plant thats used with a lot of arboreal keepers is also found in oz, dont know if its introduced plant but I did see some wild plant growing when I was over
Probably classed as an invasive weed in some countries how it was introduced but plants always have a way, very easy plant to keep
