So iv been breeding crickets and just got my crickets to breeding age and there laying eggs like crazy...just one problem...GNATS..
a friend told me gnat larvae eat cricket eggs...is this true? Iv cleaned out my colony container several times and don't see gnats for a day and then boom there back. Do you guys have any tips on killing the gnats or stopping them all together? I have the colony in a bare bottom container with boxes as hides, using sponges for water, and using a separate container filled with coco husk for eggs. Tips appreciated!!
Maybe switch the sponges to orange slices, and be sure to remove any old food.
What is the most common reason for gnats? Food? And I read citrus is bad for reptiles...is oranges the best water delivery system?
Try covering the air vents with a fine screen to keep them out.
You can use potatoes or apples.
Knats are a small fly. Flies are attracted to sweet things or other odors. Crickets can smell pretty bad so maybe they are attracted to the smell.
I have the same anoiying problem withe gnats and there maggots. Doe any one know what will eat the danm maggots, they eat my roaches.
