Hi, thought I’d share this cool fact about White’s Tree frogs with everyone!
As most of us know, White’s Tree frogs tend to change color, from green to brown to shades in between. Environmental factors, such as temperature, humidity, and light, cause them to change certain colors. With this in mind, did you know that you could manipulate the color that your White will turn into? Here’ how: If you keep the temperature high (80-85 F max) and the humidity low (say 55-60%), the frog will maintain a brighter, more bluer color. And if you keep the temperature low (60-65 F) and the humidity high (75-85%) the frog will be darker and browner in color.
Also, feeding crickets carrots, which contain beta carotene, prior to feeding them to your White’s tree frog, helps your frog maintain a brighter green color, the color which they have in the wild.
Anyways, I just thought that was pretty cool. I tried it for the fun of it, and it workedJ.
Interesting, but keep in mind, changing the temp back and forth could cause stress on your frog.
2.0.3 Hyla versicolor "Eastern Gray Tree Frogs"
2.2.0 Agalychnis callidryas "Red Eyed Tree Frogs"
0.0.3 Dendrobates auratus "Turquoise and Bronze"
0.0.1 Anaxyrus fowleri "Fowler's Toad"
I have one frog who is always a very bright green, he just doesn't seem to change. My other two however change depending on the light/temp.
