Whenever you are using cement or grout it can affect the PH of the water in your waterfall. Some people soak the background in vinegar for a period of time and that will neutralize it. I would recommend testing the water PH level before you finish everything and stick your frogs in. You can get PH test kits at a fish store. Test your conditioned tap water before to see what your baseline is. Hopefully it is fine. Then run the water down your waterfall and then test that water after it runs for a period of time. If the PH is off you should take steps to correct it before you finish and plant your tank. Its better to be safe than sorry later.
