How do I setup the dirt in a terrarium to be fertile enough to grow plants? What Kind of mixture?
Also what are some fairly inexpensive plants that do well in a vivarium? Do I need a grow light?

Organic potting soil is a good choice just make sure it is organic.
If you're going to try this I suggest you keep the plants in their pots, so the pyxies can't do serious damage to the plants. As for what plants, I honestly don't know what would be big and tough enough to recommend in a Pyxie terrarium.

I would still recommend caution-Pyxie's can move quite a bit of weight. Both of mine have flipped their water dishes, and I use heavy x-large reptile dishes. As well, with their digging, they will move and shift the plants around, even in their pots.
