I read on a website that for young green tree frogs you should have no plants and branches just water and river rocks. I was wondering if this is true. The green tree frog we got recently is under an inch or at an inch in length. He is tiny. I havent had to deal with a small frog before as frogger was already about 2 inches when we got him. I read the care sheet for gray tree frogs on here and lots of different care sheets online for green tree frogs.
Right now he is in a 15gallon, Eco Earth on the ground, a cats plastic water dish for a pool, a large branch decoration and a leafy fake plant. His tank will improve over the next 2 months as he will be getting a false bottom and real plants as will Frogger, but for now thats what I have. He hids and sleeps almost all the time. He is moving around while I am asleep though. I am not sure if he is eating or not. On Friday I am putting him in a plastic box to eat so I know. Thanks for any advice.
Maybe that advice on the "bare" tank is to make it simple to monitor and clean? There's no need for it though. The Gray Tree Frog care article could just be copied and the title changed to Green Tree Frogs - their care is that similar.

Thanks. I just was wondering if the baby needed different. I will keep it like I have it now. He will probably feel safer that way. Though he is going to have to come out for a feeding or two so I can make sure he is eating because he hardly ever is awake when I put the crickets in and doesnt move unless I touch him at night till way into the night when I am asleep, so I am afraid he may be missing his food.
Are you feeding him pinhead crickets? You could just drop them into a really small bowl and use the bowl method to monitor how he is eating.

I have been feeding him the smallest crickets from Frogger's (whites tree frog) cricket tub. We get paid tomorrow and since he was an end of the pay period suprise I cant do anything till then. We normally feed Frogger small crickets anyway, but somehow they packed large with the small this time and I didnt check. The ones I am feeding Froggy (green tree frog) are really small though, just not pinheads. Frogger who is use to 5 or 6 small crickets everyother day is getting 3 or 4 large crickets every other day. But first thing tomorrow its off to the store to buy pin head crickets (where do you find them) and more small crickets for Frogger. Plus hopefully all the stuff to make thier tanks have false bottoms. I cant wait.
I have to travel about an hour to get pinheads but maybe your local pet store and order them for you.
Its just new born crickets and they are tiny. I'm sure you can order them online too but not sure how much shipping would be.
The smalls at my local Petco are almost pinhead size so maybe check to see what size the small ones are at some different local stores.

Thanks. He seems to be eating the small ones but I dont want him to have problems. I will see if I can find some that way. Thanks.
