Welcome aboard.
Hi, my name is Jess, and I am a horned frog enthusiast.
I have only been keeping these guys for about a year. Had my first albino Cranwell's for a month or so last October and it died; I did a lot of online research before getting another. I got my green Cranwell's in February. Later added a brown cornuta, and most recently an albino cranwell's and an ornate. I'll post some pictures later
I love these guys and want to provide them with the best care I can. I hope you all enjoy your frogs as much as I do.
Welcome aboard.
Welcome to the forum Jess. I must admit that I love Horned frogs. I would very much like to see photos of your guys please .

this is my silver-dollar sized ornate. (Sorry, I'm a terrible photographer with a terrible quality camera.)
This was my green cranwell's, Pistol, in February of this year.
...and this is the same frog, yesterday. He's actually much prettier than he looks here, I'll have to try to get a better photo. He's got green down his back and sides, the rest of him is brown. (Actually, I think it may be a her?)
Here is my albino Cranwell's.
Don't have any photos of my surinam (gasp!) -- long story but he's 'back home' in Jersey since I didn't initially think I'd be able to bring him to my new apartment, so I'll have to ask the friend caring for him to take some photos for me. (Pistol is there too at the moment; he was able to take some photos of him for me but Cornelius, the cornuta, was busy burying himself.) I think he's my favorite, so I can't wait to move him here with me. Although the colors of the ornate may change my preference..
Their colors can be great. Welcome aboard.
Thanks for sharing, Jess. I very much like Ornate's, and yours is a prize. Your cornuta is the second photo right? You don't say anything about it or am I missing something.

The cornuta is temporarily living with my friend back home (I'm away at grad school) -- he said that he didn't want to disturb him to take his photo ... I am hoping this doesn't mean he died :P
I am super thrilled with my ornate. He's beautiful. And he's eating like a champ, so I'm hoping he'll get big fast.
How big is the tank that you keep them in?
Cornuta and green cranwell are each in individual 10 gallon tanks. Right now the albino cranwell and ornate are in a divided ten gallon tank. I'll move them to their own tanks when they get larger. I need to get the albino cranwell a smaller water dish, I overestimated the size of half a ten gallon tank when I bought the huge one you see in the photo.
Very good. What are you doing at Grad School?

I had to think about that for a second. Good luck with everything .
