Yeah, they were in a place where lots of people walked by and squished more of them every few minutes, so I decided to try to save a couple of them. A third toad stowed away in some of the soil I scooped up, so I ended up with 3 toadlets. One of them passed away about a month ago for no apparent reason, but the other two have been doing great this whole time. Geez they were little back then...

It's just amazing how quickly these little guys grow. I really need to get some picture updates. The toads are in my kids' room though and I only think to take pics after they're in bed!

I finally remembered to get some pics done in the morning! The tiny one is still tiny, but definitely showing some growth now and eating like a pig! For now, I'm still keeping that one housed alone. The rest are taking on small crickets easily now, I think I would have to feed them 50 fruit flies each to keep them full. I'm also giving them cut up worm pieces, they love those!

Wow, those are getting huge! Mine are more like your smaller ones so far.
On a related note, I was at a nature center in MD today, and among other things they had a big American toad. It was somewhere close to 4 inches long. I stood there staring at it for a couple of minutes thinking "I'm gonna have two of those a year from now. Sweeeeeet."
LOL They do get quite impressive in size! I figured that out finding them hiding out in my garden!
Here is a better one so you can see the size difference between one of the bigger ones and the small one...
