Turning dark when buried is standard from Grays I have seen.

Any recent drops in temperature or humidity or lighting while you were away?

All of the above. I left the light off because I don't have a timer, so I left the curtains open (no direct sunlight though) so that there was natural light in the room, but not their 60 watt blue daylight bulb. The humidity was dropped when I got home but nothing too drastic, I normally maintain it 70-75% and it was down to 60% when I got home. The temperature was not really dropped, but the a/c was off so there was a more natural change in temps of day and night vs having the ac running at a constant temp. It was likely around 75 day and 65 night.

The other frogs were darker when I got home too, but with the light back on they perked back up to their normal white/gray/greens. He has not ventured out from his hiding places to get in the light though.

Could be he thought it was fall and time to consider a winter nap then. Your temporary changes don't seem at all harmful, but seem like a likely candidate for his behavioral changes.

Thank you, I actually got home and found him bright and green on one of the top branches, basking in the light. I sprayed the tank and he was chirping away for a few minutes I guess I just had to panic enough to post something. And what you said makes a lot of sense. Now that he's had 2 days of a normal light cycle, temps, and humidity, he'll probably get back to summer time!

He was hiding out low in the substrate again tonight, but when I fed him, he ate 4 crickets and is now sitting in the tank chirping away again...so maybe he was trying to nap for winter and is slowly waking up now.
