Okay ! My questions what nightlight bulb can I use so that I can view my RETF at night while he's active ! I have a blue one on now but I have to get really close to the tank glass, and I'm pretty alpha is looking at me like " what in the world is that huge face doing staring at me lol
I'm open to any suggestions thank you !![]()
For frogs most people recommend red lights. No matter which you use, the light can't be terribly bright or the frogs will know something's up. The "moon" lights sold for aquariums are more intrusive to frogs than red colored light.

I have been having the same problem but don't want to get too strong a light that will disturb them. What wattage do you suggest with the red. How about Black light? I thought of buying one of the new, 7 year black bulbs from a regular store. I had heard black light was invisible to Frogs and those bulbs at the Pet Stores are so expensive. I know there's a difference with the daytime bulbs for UVA/UVB, but is there a difference with the red or black bulbs between those meant for pets and regular household bulbs?
I would avoid a black light since that is heading for the UV range, and most frogs don't expose themselves to UV on purpose. Regarding wattage, I would say the dimmest you can get. I can't give you an absolute number because it would depend on how far from the tank the light is, how deep the tank is, etc.
