I'm working on my largest Vivarium build to date, and I've decided its going to be a fire belly build. Its a 55 gallon tank, how many fire bellies can live in that large of an environment? I was thinking around 10 to 15....
With Fire Bellies its not how many you can fit in a particular tank. It's how many are you prepared to feed and clean up after. They all get along great and are very active frogs. But they do eat and poop alot. You would definately need a way to filter the water and then buy stock in a cricket farm.![]()
You have to consider how many frogs you want to take care of. I agree with bshmerlie.
My daughter has 4 firebellies in a 55 gallon-long. They act like its an amusement park and roam all over. She really wants more but just hasn't done it yet. But with just 4, she doesn't have so much mess but she could easily fit 8 or 10 with plenty of room to play. The water gets dirty very quickly though (not a filtered set-up), even with just 4, so 10 or 15 would keep you VERY busy. Try breeding the crickets- thats what we do and its not really hard at all!
You would DEFFINATLY need a filltration system because the water would get dirty within 2 minutes if you didn't. Otherwise, I agree with everyone else on the number of frogs you should have!
