I never thought about using K-Y jelly. I am really happy that everything is going well for your frog

A job well done, Brian. So, where do I send your vet diploma?

Thanks everyone! It's been a day and so far so good. She seems alert and content to sit on moist paper towels for the time being. I'm holding off feeding as long as I think I can, the more time it has to heal before she has to defecate again the better.

K-Y jelly is water based instead of petroleum, so seems like a good choice and I'd seen it suggested a few places. I didn't tell the folks at the pharmacy what I was going to use ity for, I figured what I had planned was probably a stranger thing than they could have imagined on their own.

I could absolutely never do this sort of thing on a regular basis. Just thinking about it makes me feel a little ill.

Well done Brian! I'm so glad you were able to help your Fatty before she got really hurt.

You are SO brave, I have no idea what I would do. And try not feel bad, things like this happen, you did exactly what you were supposed to do when washing those plants. How were you to know a tiny piece was still stuck on? Don't feel bad, you corrected your froggies problem and I'm sure she feels much better for it.

    For you Brian.

Thanks Brit. I'll always feel pretty awful about this, especially if she doesn't make it. I find myself wanting to check on her constantly and also afraid to go look in case something bad has happened. Everything is still intact as of this morning, she's still very alert and I'm still withholding food.

I know exactly how you feel Brian, I experienced the same thing when one of my White's passed away. I kept thinking there was something more I could have done or something less, and I was worried and constantly checking on her would kill her or that not checking on her would kill her...it's always a gamble.

But I think your Fatty is going to be just fine. You did a great job, getting the matter back inside her was the best thing you could have done. Who wants to walk around with their cloaca hanging out right? You've helped her, I know it.

An update-I went as long as I thought I could before feeding her and gave her a medium sized earthworm yesterday (cut in half). That made 7 days since the prolapse and 9 days since her last feeding. She managed a small poo today and no problems- a big relief. I'll keep feeding earthworms and slowly up the food intake. The less poo while she is still healing the better.
