Default Male RETF sleeping in strange positions, Why?!

Hi I have had Lrrr since November 2009 and he's been just the easiest captive. However, for about the last week he's been sleeping in some really strange positions that vary from your standard cryptic tree frog sleeping pose. He sleeps with his legs bent away from his body and looking as if he's inhaling as much as he can. His sides look like they're compressed. He's eating normally and isn't acting lethargic and the tank conditions seem to be within appropriate parameters.

    Any suggestions?

I usually go by appetite for a general assessment of frog health. I know it looks weird, but since his appetite is fine, I wouldn't be awfully concerned about the strange sleeping positions.

Thanks so much for your reply. Thats reassuring! i was thinking maybe he could have eaten a little too much and possibly hasn't pooped yet. But of course, I'm going to keep an eye on him. : ]

Oh wow that is strange! But I agree with John, just watch him closely and make sure his appetite doesn't drop and that he remains active.

Even from this picture I can tell he's a pretty frog. I love albino Red Eyes, just gorgeous.

one of my red eyes did this for a couple minutes, and he kept opening his mouth really wide and inhaling alot. He's been fine though. so i wouldn't worry too much!

The activity you just described tree frog newbie is something I've come to find they all do when waking up. I think it's just yawning. : ] what Lrrr is doing occurs in his sleep and is similar in conformation but is sustained.

Hi sorry it took so long for me to respond. : ] he's been acting fine for the last two weeks. There's a possibility the Viv was a little too dry because my timer stopped working for the mist system so there wasn't any misting to be had. But that's remedied now.

I know that my RETF's will wake up and molt during the day and make that yawning motion.
