Hey,
I was new to the site yesterday with my new common tree frog Albert, so far its been a huge help to me reading what is posted on the forums, im definitley a beginner haha!
I was just wondering what kinds of cleaning methods people use for cleaning branches, decor, vivariums etc. Ive read so many different things and at the moment im using freezing first off for set up to be sure, then followed by regular amphibian friendly disinfectant and rinsing with spring water? Would that be good regularly?
Any replies would be great!
Thank you!
Joy
Freezing generally doesn't kill everything. It's not a reliable method for disinfection. We generally recommend using a 5% bleach solution (by volume). For pieces of real wood and that sort of thing, bake them in the oven for an hour or two should kill everything. I like to dunk real wood in very hot water for a while before baking it.
