    Default Divided Tank Build

I am splitting a 36X18 tank into two 18 cubes. I got this tank off Craigs List for $50. I am using a Zoo Med cork 18X18 cork background as my divider and I just siliconed it into place. I siliconed on some cork pieces and will use Great Stuff in between and around them and I will also use in on the backside of the divider that is bare. This tank is going to house standard Leucs on one side and my new pair of banded Leucs on the other. Here are some pictures of the first part. I will take picutres and post as I go.

Great idea! I too am anxious to see the final result. Have you thought about pouting holes in the divider tiles to allow more water movement? It'd make it alot easier to drain if ever needed as well

J myust thought on it. May have been easier before being siliconed in, but good for thought. Its going to be sweet when its done though I'm sure. Your builds are always candy for the eyes

I used the black pond foam. I layed the tank flat on its back and sprayed GS, then I let it dry for about an hour then turned it so I could do the center divider part. The foam dries to the touch in about an hour so you can flip it without it sagging. I filled in the gaps in between the pieces of wood. On the divider I made a ledge and a pocket for a plant. If you can see it I put a drainage tube out the bottom. I got the tube from the GS can. Before I start spraying the GS I cut the tube they give you in half. It makes it easier to control as you are spraying it. The tube is very ridged so I use it as drainage tubes. I let the GS dry for about an hour and a half and then carved out the plant pocket. It was still a little gooey inside at that point. Then I put my tube in. The ridged tube can not be crushed as the GS expands like a normal straw can. This weekend will be covering it with silicone/coco fibre. All the flat areas of cork on the left will be covered with coco fibre. I may lay in some thin branches if I can find some. On the left I put down the silicone and on the right is piling on the coco fiber. Then it was pressed down really good and I let it sit.

Here is the finished tank. On the left I will keep standard Leucs and on the right banded Leucs. I installed a dual Mistking nozzle in the center and drilled a hole through the divider. Just used typical Lowes plants ...I'm sure you recognize them. I used moss on the left side tank and leaf litter on the right side tank. I used some wood to help create a little raised level to the tank.Name: Leuc Tank.jpg

Looks awesome cheri! That turned out really neat. I saw a 36x18x36 at a aquarium superstore by me and it reminded me of this build. Your going to have some happy frogs in there!

Very nice job on the duel setup. I also like how you handled the misting nozzles.
