I wonder if that happened because your weight was concentrated in one spot, but with the other things you are going to be putting on the shelves, the weight will be distributed more evenly. It would probably be fine, IMO.

yeah if you look at a lot of those racks you'll see that they say up to so much weight 'equally distributed"

Still though, it's not like he put 1000lbs in one spot, it should have been able to handle his weight. I'd be nervous, I know how heavy my frog tank is!

Yes I'm a bit nervous about it. my best idea was to double up the boards. Since I could only use do many of the shelves. Oh well, what can I do?
