    Default Another one!

I am getting another gray tree frog!!! That brings my total to 5 (the legal limit)

I just took my quarantine tank down over the weekend (of course) and now I got a call from someone getting rid of their frog. I didn't even ask questions, just said I'd take it! I have no idea the size or condition. I will find out soon though I have some substrate ready to go so I can get it in the tank right away with one of my fake plants. Then I will scrub down the branches and pop those in there too. YAY ME!

It's a state law here that the legal limit is 5. I got 1 from a friend, 3 more from someone getting rid of them on craigslist, and no someone else getting rid of one I will post pictures as soon as I get it! He said it was green, so I made him check the hind legs for the yellow marks, and they were there! I would love to have a newly morphed one since I already have stupid fruit flies for the toads!

It varies from state to state. Here it's 3.

In Wisconsin, it's illegal to own more than five native amphibian species. You also cannot legally purchase them anywhere in Wisconsin and have to have a fishing license to obtain them from the wild. From what I've heard, it's to protect them from becoming fishing bait. Some people apparently like to hook a big fat frog to catch big fat fish If a pet store is caught selling them, they face some hefty fines from the DNR.

Ya Im in Ontario if anyone knows the legal amount here please message me... I know no store is allowed to sell them here and that I cant take them out of forests so finding them in my yard is the only way unless I find someone giving thers away I guess lol.

We have actually heard them croaking in the bushes by the train tracks behind us... we think thats where ours originally came from.

Check out your local DNR site, it was tricky to find on mine but eventually I found a spot about native amphibians.

Sorry to hear that, but at least it wasn't one of the ones you already had and knew. That makes them dying even sadder. When my last rat died, I was a mess because he was so sweet and had the nicest personality of any pet I've ever had. I would have been sad if he had died before I got him of course, but knowing all his little quirks made it even harder.

Most definitely! I was sad about it, but it wasn't devastating like if I lost one of my frogs I already have.
